The windmill Nordhemmern, also known as "Greftmühle", is located on the northern outskirts of Nordhemmern and is visible from afar in the flat landscape.
The Dutch windmill was built in 1838 from rough sandstone on a high earth embankment. With its comfortable furnishings, the Greftmühle was somewhat more individually equipped from the beginning, which is also indicated, for example, by the worked ceiling beams in the mill.
On the earthen wall there is a stone slab on which a Dutchman's mill with a stert is depicted. This stert later had to give way to a nine-petaled wind rose. The wind rose, which has been restored to its original condition, is the only one of its kind in the mill district.
