The Erdholländer stands "on the Höchte", the highest elevation of 67 m above sea level above the village of Hille. The builder could not have found a better place in 1733, because the wind almost always blows here. After more than 250 years, the windmill ceased to operate in 1956, at last only with motor power. Wings and wind rose were no longer functional long years before. Since November 1999, the once royal mill presents itself with a new hood, clockwise rotating blades and functioning wind rose. When visiting Hille, one should definitely pay a visit to the "Alte Brennerei Hille" (Meyers Korn).
