The Dutchman's windmill with its sandstone mill tower is more than 250 years old. It was built before 1721, making it the oldest of the three royal mills in the district. Like all royal mill buildings made of quarry stone, it was originally equipped with stert. In 1872, miller Selle bought the mill and had it raised by one floor to make better use of the wind.
The heel made of brickwork is clearly visible. The reconstruction required a gallery to better sail the wings. The old stert was replaced by a gaff wheel. In 1888, the "drawing wheel" also disappeared, making way for a contemporary wind rose. The mill went the way of all small mills in the district and so the commercial mill operation was stopped in 1944. The concrete measures for preservation began early around 1962. Today, the kings mill Eilhausen is once again open to the wind and is open to the public and all interested mill lovers.
