Nature experience snack hedge

Behind our bakery and the museum is a special nature experience: a sweet hedge that entices you with sweet fruits in early summer. Raspberries, currants, gooseberries and blueberries are fragrant and invite you to try them. Plums, damsons, pears and apples also herald their coming ripeness. The idea for this snack hedge was born in spring 202 thanks to our honorary chairman Heinrich Wiegmann. It was planted with the financial support of a Heimatscheck grant and the active help of the Dennis Meyer nursery from Nordel. We use rainwater from a cistern for irrigation, which is particularly important in the dry summer months. This measure is part of the redesign of our outdoor area from 2023. The snack hedge is intended to give our youngest guests in particular the opportunity to enjoy a carefree supply of vitamins on meal and baking days.
