Windmühle Wegholm

The Wegholm windmill with its picturesque little half-timbered bakery is a real attraction for mill lovers in search of the most beautiful mill. This stately dutch windmill was built in 1861 to replace a farm mill. From the beginning, the facility included two grist grinding gears, a grinding gear and an oil mill. In 1899, the original stert was replaced by a wind rose.

Miller Fullriede bought the mill in 1927 and made several technical changes, including the installation of an electric motor as an additional drive to be independent of the wind. A grain cleaning system was purchased in 1937, and from 1939 onwards, the flouring aisle with the sifting machine could also be driven by both wind and motor power. From 1939 Hermann Fullriede, son of the first Wegholm miller, learned the miller's trade at the Holzhausen windmill. Father and son were drafted as soldiers and the mill operation had to be continued by the female family members who stayed at home.

After the end of the war, father and son continued the business, which was later expanded to include a feed store. In 1999, Hermann Fullriede was awarded the "Golden Master Craftsman's Certificate" by the Millers' Guild for his services to the milling trade. The name Hermann Fullriede is inextricably linked with the history of Wegholmer windmill and the Minden-Lübbecke Mill Association.
