At this particularly exposed location high above the banks of the Weser, a Königsmühle was built as early as 1745. As is usual with kings mills, the mills were initially operated by tenants. After an eventful history, the mill was acquired by the miller family Büsching in 1883. Müller Büsching, who had gained experience as a "wandering miller's boy" throughout Germany, had good reason to reorganize the mill operation in the 1930s.
Certainly, the tight space conditions of the kings mill contributed to the eventual demolition of the mill. The gallery bollard built in 1938 is twice as high and wide as the old kings mill. In keeping with the times, the new mill was equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. However, the "mill death" did not pass by this stately mill either. After a lightning strike damaged a wing in 1963, the wind operation was shut down and commercial milling ended soon after. Today, the mill property, which is located directly on the K 49, is in a well-kept condition. For visitors on their way to the "Gernheim" glassworks in neighboring "Ovenstädt", it is worth making a stop here.
