Büschings Mühle

The dutch windmill with its wooden octagon stands on the southern outskirts of Petershagen on the left side of the Weser. The "Büschingsche Mühle" was built in 1810, i.e. at the time of the French administration, by the miller Schwier. In the long history, the operators often changed. In 1930 the mill passed from the miller "Wüsteney" into the possession of the Büsching family, who operated it with wind power until 1938. In 1965, the active milling ended here as well, finally with electric drive.

In 1984, the first restoration work began; the mill received new sail wings and a wind rose. In 2002, a new mill group was established here. Extensive work by the mill construction yard made it possible to grind with wind power again in 2005 for the first time since 1938. Today, "Büsching's windmill" is once again in full shingle dress. On the grinding and baking days, the historic diesel engine is demonstrated in operation, among other things. Mill enthusiasts traveling by car can reach the next Petershagen windmill, the Pottmühle, via the B 61 in a northerly direction. Cyclists are highly recommended to take the cycle path through the town center, past the listed old train station, a popular resting point on the Weser Cycle Path, and past the "Hopfenberg Rehabilitation Clinic", via the K 49 to the "Pottmühle".
