BOCKWINDMÜHLE NEUENKNICK
The Bockwindmühle Neuenknick has been relocated from its old location on the Holge to the Lusebrink in November 2021. The mill had stood on the Holge since 1899. The Bockwindmühle has been rebuilt on a new solid foundation. It now stands now at a height of 79 m above sea level within sight of the Königs-mühle Seelenfeld (No. 5). The inauguration officially took place in May 2023 after it was equipped with a new canopy and new sail wings, among other things.
The trestle windmill was built in 1747 in Warmsen/Lower Saxony. It served there for more than 150 years before it was moved in 1899 to Petershagen-Neuenknick in 1899. The mill has been preserved in its original design to this day. The trestle is not clad, the roof and the wind side are shingled. With a reel at the end of the eleven meter long stert the mill, which is still equipped with sail wings, can be turned into the wind. In 1962, the exterior of the mill box was completely overhauled, boarded up and shingled.
The trestle windmill is also called the "German Mill" and was the state of the art in windmill technology before the "Dutch Mill". In the district of Minden-Lübbecke there are still three Bockwindmühlen, they are among the oldest mills of the Westphalian Mill Road. Except for Neuenknick, there are also windmills in Rahden-Wehe (22) and Stemwede-Oppenwehe (24). Mill enthusiasts traveling on the B 482 take the turnoff to Neuenknick and follow the Neuenknicker Straße to the turnoff Lusebrink.
On the hill you can see the windmill lying directly on the road "Zum Festplatz". As the crow flies from the
federal highway: 2 km. Hikers coming from the left bank of the Weser can get to know a very special way of crossing the Weser: Between Hävern, the smallest district of Petershagen, and Windheim, the only solar ferry in NRW "Petra
Solara". Sixteen people, also with bicycles, can change banks here.
